‘The Purple Noon’s Transparent Might’ has always been my forever Streeton. It got in early and hums away in the background, forming dim slumping plans that, in my heart, I could one day paint the Australian landscape. Over the years I have tried many different paths to get to this destination-most recently my veins were set on fire by the detail of ‘Golden Summer Study’ posted on Instagram by my esteemed teacher, Peter Sharp. Like a golden compass, it set the direction for my Streeton tribute, aptly named ‘Pastorale’ in honor of the archetypal Australian scene. Not that he did Hills Hoists. But he would have, I’m sure.
