Description

Story

Purukapali was the first Tiwi to celebrate the Pukumani ceremony, Japarra was Purukapali’s brother who flew up and became
the moon and Minga is the body design painted onto the body during Tiwi ceremonies.

This is a hard ground etching with chine colle, made by the artist in collaboration with Masterprinter Basil Hall during a print
workshop at Jilamara in April 2017.
