Michelle’s knowledge and passion for art materials and all things creative stems from over 10 years of experience working in the sale of art materials and nearly 30 years of experience as a practicing artist and teacher.
Her belief that knowledge about art materials is empowering for any artist has fueled her mentoring and teaching practice.
Join Michelle in this informative introductory workshop to discover invaluable knowledge for the journey in to painting.
This workshop is an introduction to the materials and practice of using oil and acrylic paints. This workshop focuses on technical information and demonstration however participants will have the opportunity to try various products throughout the presentation. Michelle will discuss and demonstrate the following;
Pigments and their unique properties.
- How paints are made, including a demonstration on how to create your own paints for use in the studio
- How to select paints when purchasing
- Painting mediums and their function
- Types of brushes
- Methods of cleaning brushes
- Types of palette
- Grounds and supports for painting
- Health and safety in the studio
Suitable for students, beginners or practicing artists who wish to start painting or learn more about their materials. A notebook is essential as there are no handouts. All materials are provided however participants are welcome to bring their current supply of painting materials along if they have any queries they would like answered.
SKILL LEVEL: Beginners through to advanced. No prior experience required
